FPGA Design Engineer

Daqscribe is an agile R&D startup that delivers products to premier customers while bringing challenging new technology to scale. We are looking for a FPGA Design Engineer who is seeking to work on high bandwidth applications and enjoys working in a modern, hands-on, and flexible environment.

At Daqscribe, we specialize in developing next-generation network recording hardware for the high data throughput industries. Our hardware, firmware, and software are utilized in spacecraft, drones, planes, and
land-based vehicles, offering you a unique opportunity to apply and test your engineering skills. Our main

Role

The digital design engineer will play a crucial role in creating reusable low-latency FPGA IP, efficient
kernel modules and comprehensive test and simulation cases. They will have the opportunity to gain
direct experience in Electrical Engineering while working in a fast-paced startup environment. The
primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Creating FPGA designs using the VHDL language
  • Simulating your designs using Modelsim/XSIM
  • Utilizing Xilinx design tools for synthesis, implementation, debugging and timing closure
  • Write verification models
  • Integrating library modules within a larger FPGA design
  • Verifying, Testing and debugging in hardware
  • Participating in regular design reviews
  • Working with software teams to integrate device IP
  • Generating high quality documentation
  • Propose ideas for, and participate in, continuous inter and intra-group innovation

Additionally, you will join the FPGA Design team and actively participate in the new product introduction (NPI) design process by creating solutions using digital design techniques primarily in the context of FPGA technology. You will be responsible for conducting research on interface and networking standards and this role provides an exciting opportunity to apply engineering knowledge, contribute to real-world projects, and enhance skills in both hardware design and industry deliverables.

  • VHDL
  • Vivado/Quartus
  • Zynq UltraScale+/Agilex 7
  • Modelsim
  • Familiarity with C/C++/C# and Matlab/Simulink for algorithmic development
  • Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing techniques
  • FPGA Design using High-speed serial interfaces (3+ Gbps)
  • Familiarity with code revision management tools such as Git
  • Eligible for a US government security clearance

Bonus Skills

  • Soldering/Assembly
  • Linux Experience in laboratory debug techniques using digital scopes, logic analyzers, BERTS, and other complex measurement devices
  • Major bonus: Aerospace Industry Knowledge

Desired Education and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s (Master’s preferred) degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years of FPGA design experience
  • Ethernet IP design experience is an asset
