Daqscribe at MOSA Industry & Government Summit, Expo 2025

Daqscribe joined MOSA 2025 to explore open systems, security, and modular innovation. Showcasing the MDR Carbon100 for cybersecurity and XDR Titan100 for rugged defense.

August 26–28, 2025Gaylord National Harbor · National Harbor, MD

In late August 2025, Daqscribe took part in the MOSA Industry & Government Summit & Expo, held at the Gaylord National Harbor in Maryland. MOSA, the Modular Open Systems Approach, is becoming a central strategy in how the U.S. Department of Defense and its Tri-Service branches modernize and collaborate using open architecture, open standards, and modular systems.

This summit was a great chance to see how the ideas we build into our data recording, replay, and secure data systems align with the direction of MOSA, and to connect with new partners and users who care deeply about modularity, security, and adaptability.

What MOSA 2025 Was Like

MOSA 2025 brought together over 100 exhibitor booths, panels of government leaders, industry experts, technical tracks, and live demonstrations. events.techconnect.org

Attendees from the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force discussed how MOSA is being integrated into major acquisition programs. Topics such as interoperability standards (FACE, SOSA, HOST, CMOSS), open architecture, IP/data rights, and digital engineering were front and center.

There was also a strong sense of urgency: how to make systems upgradeable, how to ensure multiple vendors can contribute parts/modules that interoperate, and how to ensure security, verification, and compliance in increasingly modular and open systems.

The MOSA Innovation Challenge (one of the features) showed emerging ideas and prototypes from younger or smaller tech firms making a pitch for modular / dual-use capabilities.

These were some of the trends that resonated most with us and where we see our work fitting in.

Open Standards & Interface Interoperability

MOSA pushes for multiple systems/components from different vendors to work together. For Daqscribe, that means ensuring our ethernet data recorders handle standard interfaces, align with modular architectures, and can integrate cleanly without proprietary bottlenecks.

Security and IP / Data Rights Challenges

With open modular systems, there’s more communication between modules, more exposure points. Ensuring secure data flow, verifying modules’ behavior, and managing data rights are increasingly critical. Features like encryption, authentication, and strong logging/traceability are not optional.

Digital Engineering, AI, and Verification

Digital twin, AI/ML for anomaly detection, and model-based engineering are being discussed more and more. Ensuring modules and subsystems behave as expected, especially when swapped out or upgraded.

Dual-use and Cross-Domain Collaboration

Reuse of modules, cross-service/policy/terrain reuse (air, sea, ground, space) is big, especially under MOSA, which encourages designing for adaptability. That aligns with offering solutions that are rugged, secure, flexible.

Spotlight: Daqscribe’s Military-Grade Recorders in a MOSA World

Here’s how two of our flagship recorders; the MDR Carbon100 and XDR Titan100, fit into the conversations and needs we saw at MOSA 2025.

MDR Carbon Series

Perfect for systems where security, data rights, chain of custody, and trusted data are essential. For open modular systems, it means the Carbon100 can enforce or support secure boundaries (e.g. module communication, encryption), log integrity, and compliance to standards needed for defense acquisition and verification.

MDR Carbon Series

XDR Titan Series

Designed for challenging environments: extreme temperature, vibration, airborne or sea-based platforms, mobile deployments. In MOSA, many systems or components will be deployed in rugged or harsh contexts.

XDR Titan100 is built to survive and reliably record, no matter the environmental stress, fit into modular platforms, and work with open interfaces.

XDR Titan Series

Looking Ahead

Attending MOSA 2025 reinforced for us that the future of defense systems depends heavily on modularity, openness, adaptability—and security.

We’re excited to take these insights back into our product roadmap:

  • Pushing further compliance with open architecture standards
  • Enhancing our verification, logging, and secure data handling to support MOSA-driven programs
  • Ensuring our rugged devices integrate well in modular form factors
